The Finnish Paralympic Committee is taking over Finnish national goalball teams; it’s responsible of the annual budget as well as the contracts of athletes, coaches and staff members of the national teams.

Finnish national goalball teams have training camps on average once in a month. The length of the training camps is usually two days and they are most of times organized at the Paralympic Training Center in Pajulahti.

Finnish national goalball teams have also weekly trainings in the capital area of Finland.

Finnish national goalball teams take part actively in the major championships as well as other international tournaments for national teams.

Finland is one of the most successful goalball country in the world; Finnish national goalball teams have won totally:

Five paralympic medals (3 gold, 2 silver);

Five World Championships medals (3 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze);

12 European Championships medals (6 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze);

4 IBSA World Games medals (2 gold, 2 silver).

Upcoming Events

Due the corona pandemic there are not upcoming events for the Finnish national goalball teams so far during year 2020.

Next major championships for Finnish women’s national team will be IBSA Goalball European Championships (Group B) in Lahti, Finland between 24th January – 1st February 2021.

Next major championships for Finnish men’s national team will be IBSA Goalball European Championships (Group A) in Turkey on October 2021.
